Contribution is just another way of finding purpose. I am an afterschool teacher, and the children are important to me because they are the future - it is not just a "job" - it's more than that for me.
I try to help them become the best versions of themselves and I try to teach them the value of respect. When I was a kid, other teachers or family members of mine taught me how to be respectful and the value of hard work. The one person that has inspired me is my brother. I was unfortunate to not have my father in my life, so my brother was second in command. He taught the value of respect and hard work. One thing our father told him was "handle your business," which meant more than just a quote. It was the right way to go about life.
My main challenge today would be consistency. The art of repetition is a struggle for me because it can be boring, but I had to realize it's supposed to be that way. Giving back is very important, especially to those who are in need. I personally do not seek any reward for giving back, but I do believe that you receive what you give out. When I am at work, lifting up the children is very important because you never know what that child might be going through. It should be a core value in America and most importantly, around the world. Positivity is key.
