My name is Paul. I have a physical disability. I use a wheelchair because I'm paralyzed from the neck down. I've recently finished my PHD in computer science where I focused on software accessibility. Technology has been a passion of mine since I was a kid, but after my injury it became even more important. Because of my disability, I rely on technology to type code and even play games. It keeps me connected and makes everyday life more colorful. Computers are the connection between me and the world. So, for me, contributing to the community means helping make technology more inclusive — whether that’s by directly solving accessibility issues or by educating and empowering others to do the same. Those moments — when you can see that your research is improving real people’s lives — that’s the most rewarding part for me.
