I make a difference in my community by using STEM as a tool for access and equity. Through "Mommy and Me: The Listers," my family and I create hands-on science carnivals, school workshops, and mobile STEM labs that bring learning directly to children and families who might not otherwise have those opportunities serving thousands of scholars annually.
I am inspired by my daughters, Krissy and Kinsley, whose curiosity reminds me daily that every child deserves to see themselves as a scientist, creator, or innovator. They fuel my passion to open doors for the next generation.
The challenge I’m trying to address is the academic gap and lack of exposure in underserved communities. Too often, transportation, finances, or systemic barriers stand between kids and the resources that could change their lives.
What I gain from giving back is immeasurable. I get to see sparks of wonder in children’s eyes, hear families say they feel seen and included, and watch communities grow stronger through shared learning. Those moments remind me why this work matters.
For me, lifting others up is not optional, it’s foundational. It’s what it means to be American: that when one of us rises, we all rise. My mission is to keep building bridges so that every child has the chance to dream bigger, reach higher, and believe that their future is limitless.
