Feeding the Children: You Can't Learn Good on an Empty Stomach

Feed The People
Even though I was a straight-A student, I felt so insecure growing up because I didn't have love. I started Champ's Teardrops after being in a bad place. I was in jail, and I asked God, "What's next for me?" I knew that wasn't it. I had to do something to make a difference. My kid's friends would come over and spend the night and I'd ask them if they had eaten in a while, and they'd say no, so I'd feed them. Then more kids started showing up at the door hungry. Over the past 10 years or so, I've fed and temporarily housed over 13 hungry children from households where the parent was on drugs or couldn't feed their child. Now, I'll feed 3, sometimes 400 kids in one week before and after school. I'll even wash their little faces and fix their hair at the bus stop and send them off to school, because the parent didn't do it. This isn't my full-time job, but it's something that I do because we all need to know what real, safe love is from someone you trust.
