My name is Kyle Mesteth.
I started Ground Control a few years ago on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, smack dab in the middle of the country.

Ground Control is an indoor skate park slash multimedia studio.

The reason for the multimedia studio is that I didn't like feeling like we were "other" here. As though being a part of telling our own story as well as taking part in a creative digital medium was out of reach.

We shouldn't have to be limited to being in other people's documentaries who focus on our shortcomings. I wanted to be a part of changing that narrative.

The skate park came about because I wanted to create a safe place for people to be able to come vibe out year-round.

I have two sons and I want Ground Control to be a launch pad for people to take off from. To do well here so they can go out and conquer the world.

I don't want anyone to feel that they are less than, and I hope that this space is just the beginning of bringing some really cool things to life.
