My name is Sergio Perez. Almost 20 years ago, while waiting for my kids to finish art class at a nearby art studio in the Claremont village's packing house, I stumbled upon the Prison Library Project, a volunteer-driven program focused on delivering books and educational resources to incarcerated individuals. I began volunteering, reading letters from inmates, and preparing books to be mailed to prisons across the country. I realized that with my background as a logistics engineer for UPS, I could help streamline some of the organization's processes and grow the community’s farmers’ market, which provides the primary income stream. I retired from UPS and have been the director of the Prison Library Project for 15 years.
