How a Simple Gesture Turned Me Into a Filmmaker Sharing Hawaii’s Spirit of Aloha

Create With The People
Hi, I'm Steve Sue, and I'm proud to say that I am now a filmmaker. A few years ago, I was not. But it wasn't until some of the elders in my community they goaded me into making a film about the shaka gesture. This is something that is all about Hawaii. And they said, "Steve, this is important to capture for future generations." So I thought I was going to make like a 20 minute documentary. The thing turned out to be a full feature. And I'm really glad that we made this movie. Aloha is a way to create paradise anywhere, anytime. That's why I seek to share it with the world. As a documentary filmmaker, I feel that this is like my purpose. This is why I exist. And what's cool about it is I think I can affect the planet beyond my years here. So that's why I'm a documentary filmmaker now. I hope you'll support one or even become one yourself. Aloha.
