When we made our first film, our community was so eager and went above and beyond to help us. In that process, we realized there was a ton of excitement around filmmaking but not a lot of outlets or resources. In southern Indiana, there is a huge push for the arts, but when it comes to media it's mostly sports broadcasting or radio broadcasting. In creating the Va Bene Film Challenge, we wanted to create a space for southern Indiana high school students to let their creativity fly in visual storytelling. It has been incredible year after year watching original films and seeing the students passion for their projects.
