My name is Chanel Porchia-Albert. I’m a mother of six children, a wife, and the founder of Ancient Song.
The essence of my work is rooted in the belief that we are all connected, and that what one person does has a ripple effect on the entire community. My work as a doula began shortly after the birth of my first child. Coming into motherhood without my own mother, who passed away when I was 14, I realized how much I needed to be held and supported. That experience led me to birth work.
As a doula and educator, my work is an extension of community care, something often lacking in medical systems. Birth is sacred, and how we treat mothers shapes how they see themselves and how they nurture their children. There’s a ripple effect. I founded Ancient Song to create a space that removes doubt, fear, and anxiety, and instead instills hope and a sense of security across generations.
My work is about more than just supporting births. It’s about affirming mothers and families, reminding them that their existence is worthy of being honored. I teach people that you can’t help others until you help yourself, that loving and caring for your own body is essential. At the heart of it, I want people to feel loved, seen, and supported, because everyone deserves that, especially when bringing new life into the world.
That’s why I do this work: to build community, to offer support, and to ensure that every parent knows they’re loved. We call all to use more love in today’s world.
