That is the mentality of many people who've kept Basque culture alive. I am only able to dance because people have kept the group alive for 60 years. It's people putting in countless hours of work to make sure these events can still happen.
I am Basque on my mother's side and Mexican on my father's. I am the curator at the Basque Museum and Cultural Center. I am the instructor for a children's dance group, and I am also a dancer in the adult dance group and the women's dance director this year.
I love my job so much it doesn't feel like work, but there definitely always is something in the back of my mind that's like "ok, make sure you do a good job so that this is available for future generations."
