I am part of a whole. A spoke in a wheel. I am a member of a mutual aid group, reaching out in simple yet effective ways to make an impact in my community. Starting during the height of COVID, I have teamed with neighbors from across the city to set up free community refrigerators where our neighbors can donate and access food, toiletries and household essentials. I am committed to sustainability in these communities and to empowering people to get involved and make an immediate impact directly in their own neighborhood. I practice solidarity, not charity. Every Friday, I meet other volunteers, gather food and help distribute to fridges across the city. I work to break down barriers and build connection. I hope to inspire others to get involved in their communities and to build a more equitable and sustainable future for everyone.
