Community Got Me Through My Mom’s Cancer, Now I’m Paying It Forward

Mentor The People
Hi, my name is Catherine Paulitz. I love community. I've been really involved with specific communities throughout my life and community service has been a huge part of my life. I love helping people. I care about really everything, anything I can help with, but services that involve cancer I really, really care about. My mom actually had breast cancer and so I was part of like the community of people who have to deal with cancer on a day-to-day. And it is one of those communities where you kind of need support. As a kid, because my mom unfortunately passed away from breast cancer, I went to Camp Kesem. It's a camp for kids who are affected by a parent's cancer. We thought it would be good in the grieving process. And that's where I really just fell in love with it. Camp is a good way to offer them support and offer them community of their peers who understand what they're going through.
