I contribute as a volunteer with the children’s dance theater production of The Little Mermaid in Washington, where I support the young performers and the creative team behind the scenes. My role is about helping make the process smooth, fun, and inspiring for the kids, whether that’s assisting during rehearsals, helping with costumes, or simply being a steady presence when they need encouragement.
I am inspired by the children themselves—their joy, their creativity, and their bravery in stepping on stage to share a story with an audience. I’m also inspired by the community of artists and educators who dedicate their time to building spaces where children can grow through the arts.
Too often, the arts are treated as extracurricular rather than essential, and I want to be part of making them accessible, joyful, and transformative for kids in our community.
