Week by week, I directly contribute to the success of Book Harvest's mission by driving around our local community and providing books to the children and families of Durham by filling our many Book Hubs with an abundance of books. I also provide support for many of Book Harvest's programs, such as Books For K and Books From Birth, by transporting and delivering books with a personal touch and smile all around the state of North Carolina. I am inspired each day by the people of North Carolina; they nearly always match enthusiasm and joy for the mission of providing excellent books to one and all, and I'm excited to work with and serve them each day. I am also inspired to put forth my best effort each day by my colleagues. It's an honor and a privilege to work with such an amazing group of people. My hope is that, through the combined efforts of all Book Harvest's staff, programs, and partners, we will move ever closer to a reality wherein literacy is viewed as a civil right and that books are accessible and abundant to all children and families regardless of individual situations and circumstances. Simply, working at Book Harvest fills my cup. My arrival at the office each morning feels more like walking into a second home than clocking in at a typical job. Even on the hardest days, I am excited to be around my work-family, and for that, I am filled with gratitude. My contributions to the success of my team, to Book Harvest writ large, and to the people of Durham have shown me that everyone has a stake, one way or another, in making their home a better place for all.
