Chicago's Tool Library helps build community

Supply The People
The Chicago Tool Library is a space where we have all sorts of equipment that people from the community can come, borrow and return, so you don’t have buy and maintain it yourself. It’s just such a sensible resource that really I am just a shepherd of it.

Chicago as a city inspires me to give back. Even though we’re a big city, there’s a lot of love here. People are really eager to help each other, they’re eager to see positive change in their neighborhoods, so I’m really inspired to do the work I do because of Chicago.

We’re really directly responding to what people want and need. The systems we create are like a conversation with the community. I really am engaging in work that’s actively responding to people.

For me, getting to contribute to my community through the Chicago Tool Library is incredible. I can’t think of a better way to serve the people here, my neighbors, than providing helpful things to them every single week.
