Since 2017, I’ve had the privilege and honor to serve alongside Samaritan's Purse - Children’s Heart Project. In my role as a medical transporter, I get to help transport children to North America who need heart surgery from countries like Uganda, Mongolia, and Bolivia. Overall, for the past 27 years, Samaritan's Purse has arranged for critical congenital heart surgery for over 1,600 boys and girls from over a dozen countries. Without these life saving heart surgeries, these children wouldn’t live into adulthood. Once hearts are repaired through surgery, families and children have hope and an opportunity to live a life that has meaning and purpose. Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ is at the core of Children's Heart Project. Many children and families come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior through these medical trips. It is a gift to witness the miracles that take place, as the Samaritan's Purse team works diligently to arrange all heart surgeries. Once surgeries are completed, and children return to their home country, Samaritan's Purse continues to follow up with them and their families as they grow. For example, once a year, children come together for “Heart Camp,” where they get to connect, interact, meet, and build community with other families who have walked a similar journey.
