My name is Bobby Gunnoe. I’m a laser tattoo removal technician with the Elkhart County Jail Ministries. My wife, Lisa, and I have been doing this work for about six years, and every day we see how it transforms people’s lives, including our own.
Lisa and I met almost twenty years ago. Back then, we were both broken, both trying to rebuild from bad choices. But through the Elkhart County Jail Ministry, through Cory and Shannan Martin, and through faith, we found a way back. They met us at our lowest point and showed us that transformation was possible.
Now we try to do the same for others. Many people come in covered in gang markings, but after a year or two, their tattoos fade — and so does the weight of their past. You can see the transformation not just on their skin, but in their eyes.
What inspires us most are the people who come back wanting to give. The woman who now collects clothes for the homeless, the man who mentors others after removing his gang tattoos. Helping others changes them and it changes us, too.
That’s what we hope to offer: a second chance to see yourself again.
