There was a serious need: it was something that I could do and enjoy, so I'm doing it!

Clean For The People
Littering and illegal dumping is EVERYWHERE! I hate seeing nature's beauty blemished by complacent, ignorant people. I've always taken it upon myself to try to reverse other's damage no matter where I was. After moving to my latest home, I met a kind man that had my same ideals and acted upon them by organizing others to help clean up "our neighborhood." Since 2015 our group has properly disposed of over one million pounds of trash. Our impact was great enough that you could see some of our accomplishments from OUTER SPACE! It is very gratifying to know I've made a positive impact not only on my home but in others' views of our common responsibility. Social media allows me to share our work and hopefully inspire others.

The biggest challenge we encounter is encouraging our government to be our partners in reversing this awful trend of irresponsibility. We have a local branch of law enforcement to help counter illegal dumping but sadly their enforcement efforts have little effect to discourage offenders. Our local population is growing rapidly in recent years and a big, positive change is essential or we will simply be overwhelmed and unable to effectively counter peoples' negligence.

On the bright side, our county owns the local landfill and supplements our efforts by offering us free disposal of our collected trash, tires, boats, hot tubs, etc. We live in a community with primarily older residents. Many of them are not physically able to join in on our efforts but encourage us by contributing financially so we can buy needed supplies and maintain our vehicles to continue our work. They've even held fundraisers to help us buy dump trailers to make our work easier! We've even inspired others to start their own local groups and encouraged one fine fellow to move to our little town to help accomplish what we couldn't - dispose of abandoned vehicles. He even goes so far as to help people dispose of vehicles that have no valid title. This is a requirement in our county.
