My life started with my parents being in an interracial marriage, and later, I was introduced to drugs at age 11. Continuing life, I got pregnant at age 15 (the father was 23) and later had 6 more children. My life was introduced to domestic violence and the continuation of drugs. Leaving my parents to raise my kids. I then learned the savvy way of life on the streets and began selling drugs, which led me to incarceration. And then I became homeless, living in the streets of NYC for 2 decades as a Mole Person. In 2008, I found my way back, and I vowed to help women like me find their way back to a structured life.
Getting educated to later open a nonprofit organization, the PRADO of Transitioning Forward, in 2014 was my way of giving back to those who lost their way. Funding is difficult. So, from that time to date, I've hosted free events in low-income communities and shared my story with schools and organizations to provide hope to those who need it. I solicit the communities and organizations that believed in me to get in-kind donations. Today, I do weekly food pantries and quarterly free events that provide clothing, footwear, hygiene products, snacks, senior care needs, educational supplies, and health care and community providers to attend and give expert information to those who need it. Today, my goal is to obtain a space where we can give events and services to those in need.
