My wife and I love to read, and just as much as we love books, we love the people who read them—no matter the genre. That’s why we started *The Book Rescuers* in our driveway during the pandemic with 800 books that were headed for the landfill, and now we’ve grown to more than 200,000—all donated by the community.
When we faced setbacks, people rallied around us with generosity that kept us going. We make books affordable, with kids’ books for a dollar and special discounts for teachers, and we’re expanding to create a welcoming community space with coffee, tea, beer, and wine. People tell us we’ve done a great job, but really, this has all been the community—we’ve just been the vessel crazy enough to give it a shot.
