Exploring disabilities through the No Thumbs Challenge

Enlighten The People
I was born with a rare genetic condition called Ectrodactyly Ectodermal Dysplasia. As a result, I have only a pinky finger on each hand with limited dexterity and partial feet. I am one of ten multi-diverse adopted children, raised by disabled parents. Growing up, I was part of the Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged and competed with students with disabilities across New York State and Ireland.

My experience workshop, Limitations are Opportunities, takes you beyond basic understanding of what it means to live with a disability. It shifts an abstract concept we've only heard about to a belief and a felt truth that can change how we see the world. By exploring my physical disability through simple cooking tasks, this workshop connects us to a deeper understanding and fuels the drive to create change. Because once you know with your whole self, you grow for the better – and so do those around you.

This is anything but your average inclusion training. My workshop offers profound experiential learning, plenty of laughs, deeply thoughtful conversations, and a connection to ourselves. In this work we all fully embody what it means to live with a disability.
