I’m Matt Eckel, I’m an English teacher and when I was in high school, creative expression was one of a few things that excited and motivated me. Students often struggle to see the practical value of English class, so I try to create a playful and fun environment to keep them engaged and encourage them to keep learning. I run a student voice magazine which gives them free reign to express themselves and apply skills from English class in their lives. It’s a lot of fun to see their ideas grow and come to fruition and I hope that this experience shows them the value of creativity in navigating the various challenges they’ll face in college, the workplace, and life.
