From my calling as a nurse to present day, helping others is not about me and embodies who Americans should be

Care For The People
To me, the heart of an American is strong, caring, and giving...a heart that will hold others up with love, care, and prayer.

I remember the moment when I was a little girl, an idea came to me to help others was when I watched family members crying after making bad grades on an exam. I could not watch their hurt without helping. With my help, they were able to pass their exams - the were elated, and so was I - and I never stopped helping since.

When I was a nurse, I loved providing help to others: feeding, movement assistance, to even brushing teeth and a bath. The hospital is a place of concern, worry, and fear, even if the patient never says that. The unknown is very fearful.

My desire was to make each person feel important and valued. Many days at work, I never took a break-not even lunch. I just wanted to make everyone feel they were cared for.

Later, I began to run the family business. I found people who needed help: food, diapers, lights kept on, and much more. I would have these items delivered to their home or had a close friend take my funds to pay a bill (without telling who paid-just someone loves you).

I did not need a thank you. Gifts are meant for helping another and these are gifts for not for myself.

I believe looking out for another is who Americans should be. Life is short and times do become difficult. Sometimes giving someone a moment of relief can be a moment of change for them. Sometimes it is a moment of peace.

I know in my heart that loving others & giving to help raise the fallen is a vital aspect for survival. Love others and give from the heart, without a need of return.
