Our club does much to help others. Beyond our commitment to literacy, we support needy mothers who have nothing to leave the hospital with. It is called our NAP program, and is fundamentally a baby shower in a bag. We are a big supporter of the Adoptive and Foster Family services, working with them for school supplies, Christmas needs, etc. We also have done a winter survival program to help the homeless in the winter. We serve at the local soup kitchen monthly. We are inspired to do this in this crazy world because it feels like we are doing something positive to help the most vulnerable amongst us. When you are at a public event giving out books to kids, and their face lights up when they find their favorite book, it is really something. We live for those smiles and happiness! My life personally has been enriched by all these activities. Rather than stay home and doom scroll, or talk crap about politics on social media, we are out and about in the community helping where and how we can. Being American means freedom.
