In 2016, a teenager lit a mattress on fire near Coney Island, claiming it was because he was bored. I felt that tragedy could have been prevented if that child had the same opportunity I had to surf and be outside, so I launched this program dedicated to introducing surfing and ocean safety to Black and brown youth.

Through free lessons, equipment provision, and mentorship, we aim to diversify the surfing community and empower underrepresented individuals. The organization has taught over 200 children, many of whom had never been in the ocean despite living near the beach.
