I help translate at an immigration nonprofit to help people apply for legal status

Advocate For The People
I majored in Spanish when I was in college, and one of my Spanish professors recommended that I do translation work for a pro-bono immigration clinic. I began to translate birth certificates and other documents that people needed to apply for visas and green cards.

After that, I helped create a course to teach other volunteers how to do the translation. I also helped translate an Intro to Immigration Law course into Spanish, so that people who only speak Spanish could also take the course.

This led me to want to be an attorney-- and now I'm in my 3rd year of law school, and I plan to be an immigration attorney!
