The date was May 20, 2013, when my late husband Arthur and I received a phone call from our daughter Micha and her mammogram was positive. She was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. We began to pray as a family asking God to please protect our daughter. I had to be strong for my child who was only 31 years of age at the time.
I had seen other people go through chemo and it was a difficult process. Our family and church community stood by our side for Micha. This ordeal took a total of six years to complete. Today, Micha is a 12-year breast cancer survivor. However, my beloved husband sadly passed of cancer in 2016.
In 2018, I scheduled my annual mammogram. Everything appeared fine but two days later my doctor called me, and she was very upset and crying. I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast cancer.
For the first time since my husband’s passing I was sitting on the other side of the desk for help and support. For the past 40 years I have worked to build my own business as a doctor of psychological counseling. Helping people to navigate through their life journey and to formulate positive decisions for a healthier lifestyle- and the tables turned.
All I could remember was that my work was not done in helping others and I promised God I would share my testimony with others and to continue my Christian outpatient private practice. Thankfully after treatment, on June 18, 2023, I was declared cancer free. I knew that God had spared my life for a reason. This journey has taught me that my entire purpose in this life is to serve God and to be a blessing to my family and to help others in any way I possibly can.
I now have been even more committed to spend hours day after day assisting individuals of all ages struggling with inner turmoil. When I do community outreach with my church, I realize that many people just need a second chance of hope and love. They also need support and guidance in a new direction. I feel that my purpose is to serve and share the possibility of change with others.
