From the Ashes

Nourish The People
I’ve battled fires for over twenty years, and the one that changed everything was my own house fire. To lose everything, including the shirt off your back, you realize just how devastating it is when disaster strikes.

After that fire, I vowed to give back to others affected by disaster. What started as a simple promise has grown into a 200-strong, volunteer-run nonprofit that caters BBQ to raise funds to help victims rebuild their lives.

Once Texas Fire Walkers started rolling, we had the means to go back after a fire call and ask victims, “Hey, what can we do for you?”

Our number one priority is to connect with folks in those first 48 hours and make things just a little better with a hot-cooked meal, and clothes. From there, we help people begin again, sharing the resources and networks we’ve built after years in disaster relief.

We also provide fire-preparedness education, pet disaster assistance, and recently developed a mobile command center after the 2025 Fourth of July floods—where our team served over 50,000 hot meals in 112 days.

This all may sound like a lot for a crew of volunteers with full-time jobs, but all we want is to bring warmth and love to people on what might be the worst day of their lives. Many of our volunteers have been fire victims themselves and approach this work with great empathy.

Keep giving—that’s the message in everything we do. When you’re down and out and someone helps you, please remember that, and always pay it forward.
