Historic St. Mary's City is committed to digging up the past through archeology and sharing our finds with the world through our living history museum. We believe that telling the stories of the people who lived here, the colonists that settled Maryland, Indigenous Communities, and enslaved Africans, helps our visitors see themselves as part of a larger American story. Preserving and sharing these narratives is our contribution to our community. The challenges we face are real; history can feel distant, exclusive, and intimidating. Our mission is to break down those barriers by making history accessible. Whether through hands-on volunteer opportunities, interactive exhibits, or creative outreach, we invite people to step into the story and feel that it belongs to them, too.
