I started a wonderful journey of “pay it forward,” that has led to many enlightening experiences. Before this story started, I was in a hospital ICU after surgery for cancer, withering in fatigue and despair, when one nurse on duty gave me encouragement, care and personal assistance to stand up again. The nurse’s name was Melanie - and my encounter with her inspired me greatly to give myself to those in need.
This story revolves around helping someone I knew escape domestic violence - and have another chance to live life happily. Much like the nurse who encouraged and inspired me to live my life; I served as a catalyst for this woman to break free from a dangerous situation, so she can live hers.
This abuse victim hinted of her pains with subtlety and understatement but I intuited something was wrong, and I took action. I had to convince her: she's not alone and there's always hope and help. I called the women/children protection organization and the director responded right away providing actionable steps. She successfully escaped her abusive relationship with our support, and entered a protection program. She's now living happily but still under protective watch and I can't reveal details for safety and privacy.
I felt immensely relieved that the she is free from harm and dark torture. Her potential to choose a healthy life was fully liberated after the rescue and is now getting a college degree with scholarship! I am so happy to play a pivotal role in getting her the help she needed to move forward.
America is a country of humanity and freedom. I firmly believe that American values are the truest and highest values benefiting humanity. Everyone has freedom of choice for their life's path. I gave up all my past life to come to USA for a new start. I struggled my way to the top with the belief that life is worth living in America because we can always create a better life with efforts here. My story, and the woman I helped are just two (of many) examples of this.
