When I first moved to Idaho I didnt know anyone and was struggling with my mental health. I needed something to do with my hands, and a way to connect to my community. So i started baking and giving it away to neighbors. Then I started posting about free baked goods in local facebook groups. Eventually I was baking every sunday for dozens of people. Completely for free. When stamp benefits were at risk I opened my free pantry as well. Now the free pantry is open 24/7 and the free bakery happens every sunday. It is my favorite part of the week. I am lucky to say I know all of my neighbors and community members names, and that feels like such a win in this day and age!
