My name is Theresa from Connecticut. Since 2008, I have a show on public tv called "Diversity in the Community" on Windsor Public TV where I bring people on to tell their stories to inspire others. For instance a young man with spina bifida who models in his wheelchair, plays basketball and does commercials. Or a group of women who beat cancer and inspired as they battled cancer. I recently had two people on who lost loved ones came on to educate others what they need to have in place and prepared when their loved ones pass. The list is endless!
I see my talk show as a ministry because it’s all about spreading positive messages. I began in 2008 not realizing that it would still be going in 2025. I invite people on the show to tell their stories to help others. I tell them what a young artist told me when he was on my program, he said, “I used to get caught up in the 'likes' on social media but then realized that many people were buying my paintings that never clicked on the like button but they were touched by the message of the painting." So, I say the same thing to my guests, if your message helps one person watching then it is worth it.
One thing that is dear to my heart is encouraging older people that you don’t have to spend the rest of your life sitting and peeking out the window and watching soap operas unless that is what you want to do. I am a part of a group of writers called the Journey writers, we recently published our first anthology.
I was 3rd place winner for Hartford’s Got Talent at the age of 70, I am a tour guide for the Farmington Historical Society’s Amistad Tours. I am also a singer/songwriter and all my songs were written with uplifting others in mind. It’s all about encouraging others I have won several awards for my community TV program and awards for just helping people see a better way. No matter what your name is, no matter where you live, no matter your size, no matter the color of your eyes, everybody is somebody in the sight of God.
