I’ve always believed that the most beautiful things in life grow from love, resilience, and purpose. For me, that purpose bloomed through both heartbreak and hope, through my sister, Jessica, who lived and loved her way through Cystic Fibrosis. Despite everything she faced, Jessica never let the struggle define her. She smiled through pain, laughed through exhaustion, and gave through hardship. Watching her courage taught me that every day is a gift, and that kindness can heal in ways medicine cannot.
When Jessica passed away, the world grew quiet. But in that silence, I heard her lessons echo, live fully, love deeply, and make a difference. I couldn’t bring her back, but I could carry her light forward. That’s how the Oregon Rose Pageant was born, a vision to turn pain into purpose, to celebrate confidence, character, and community.
What started as a dream has grown into a statewide sisterhood of women and girls who lead with heart. Together, we volunteer, raise awareness, and spread kindness across Oregon, especially for causes like Cystic Fibrosis and others that hold a special place in all of our hearts. I’ve seen delegates rediscover their confidence, families serve side by side, and young girls learn that beauty shines brightest from within.
To me, the Oregon Rose Pageant isn’t about crowns or titles, it’s about connection, compassion, and growth. Every act of service feels like Jessica is right there with us, her courage woven into every smile. This journey has taught me that love never disappears, it transforms, growing through the lives we touch.
Founding this organization has also reminded me that lifting others is at the heart of being American. We rise by helping one another, by turning compassion into action, and by believing that one small act of love can spark lasting change.
Jessica’s strength planted the seed; her love made it bloom. The Oregon Rose Pageant is her legacy, proof that even through loss, something beautiful can still grow.
