I contribute by helping plan and run our Pancakes for Parkinson’s events, volunteering with the Houston Area Parkinson’s Society, and raising both funds and awareness among students who will become future healthcare workers. I’m inspired by the people living with Parkinson’s who show up with humor and resilience, even on hard days. The problem I hope to solve is the gap between what science could already deliver and the resources that exist to make it real. Contributing gives me a sense of agency — I’m not just learning about disease in a classroom, I’m doing something that matters now. And yes, I see the impact beyond campus: every dollar helps research nationally, and every conversation shifts how a future doctor, policymaker, or scientist will treat patients later in life.
Serving pancakes taught me that small acts can move people, research, and hope forward
