Solutions-Focused Community Book Club: Connecting Through Conversation and Action

Organize The People
The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona’s Solutions-Focused Community Book Club meets quarterly to bring people from all walks of life together to read, chat, and think about how we can make our community stronger. The club has created a safe space for solutions-focused conversations, where local community members and panelists from organizations doing the work share insights, exchange ideas, and explore ways to make a real difference. Participants leave with a sense of community, connection, and belonging.

Past book club picks include All’s Well by Mona Awad, Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Pérez, My Side of the River by Elizabeth Camarillo Gutierrez—a hometown favorite set right here in Tucson—The Refugees by Viet Thanh Nguyen, and How We Show Up by Mia Birdsong. For nonfiction titles, local experts join the discussion to provide context, spark deeper conversation, and highlight how the topics relate to our community.

Since 1980, the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA) has connected donors, nonprofits, and community partners to build a more vibrant and equitable Southern Arizona. CFSA provides funding, training, and collaboration opportunities so everyone can make a lasting impact. The book club is one of CFSA’s initiatives to inspire dialogue, action, and stronger connections across the community.

Hosted with the Tucson Tome Gnome and Tucson Spotlight, the book club is a fun, thought-provoking way to meet new people, share ideas, and explore how we can all make a difference in our community.
