I’m spent most of my life in service of others, through my work as a pastor, owner of a resort, and a counselor. My parents, David and Louise, inspired my life’s work through their lives of gratitude, compassion and generosity.

It was my father, David, who loved this valley and it was his desire to share it with others that brought about Pleasant Valley, a ski resort and retreat center built out of an old barn, placed in this oak savannah in rural South Dakota. It was his vision of this place that became my vision and passion that brought about this special retreat and refuge from everyday life. It became a special place for the many people who would come here. It was here, they found joy, deeper relationships and connections to God and the world He created.

Inspired by his vision, we’re writing a new chapter for this serene valley, a basic and rustic hermitage cabin available without cost, to anyone who wants to escape and rediscover themselves and reconnect with their Creator.

Our time on this earth is short, and I want to do what I can to make it a little bit better for those who are craving a deeper connection with this amazing place where we landed on the earth. I hope to inspire others to look inward and experience the amazing creation that is gift to all of us.
