I loved the Air Force. I thought I’d serve until retirement. But everything changed when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and was eventually paralyzed from the nose down. Doctors told me I would never walk again, but I refused to believe them.

My healing journey eventually led me to New Hope Equine Therapy - where I met Sharla, and a one-eyed horse named Cyclops. He didn’t see a disabled woman. He didn’t see the wheelchair. He just saw me.

The Horses Helping Heroes program has given me strength, purpose, and real peace in my life again. Every time I leave that barn, I leave stronger - mentally and physically. This work changes veterans. It changed me.
