From First-Gen Student to Advocate: Paying It Forward Through Educational Equity

Mentor The People
My own education inspired me to support educational equity. As a first-gen, low-income student I did not have the resources or knowledge on how to obtain a college degree or what that meant. When I began my education I quickly realized all the information that doesn't get fully communicated to students like myself about the resources and services available to students like myself. I realized there were a lot of resources and services for students to earn a college education, one just had to seek support. Thus why I enjoy the work I do because I get to amplify these services and resources and hopefully allow students to see the plethora of support there is.

Due to the support of many people I was able to thrive. Today, I like to make sure I am paying it forward by supporting students from marginalized communities and backgrounds similar to mine.
