Hoop Dancing To Inspire The World

Inspire The People
Friends and relatives.
My name is Jackie Bird.
I teach traditional arts and hoop dancing.

For me, I grew up in an immersion of art.
My father was a recording artist and my mother is a painter.
Both of them are in the South Dakota Hall of Fame.

Art is a therapy.

That's why I do what I do.
Whether it is singing and dancing for youth at their schools or out picking sage for ceremony on my own, there is so much to learn by listening and by participating in life.

When I was given the right to hoop dance, I was taught that I needed to use it to tell my own story. And that is what I do, by incorporating our shared history into my dance.
I use 28 hoops, and there is a story and a need behind every one of them.

What I do is for public knowledge.
I hope to bring enlightenment and inspiration wherever I go, so that others can ignite their own energies within.

I use the hoop as a form of expression for all nations working together in unity, world peace, and global healing.
