I, with my sidekick puppet Millicent, uplift kids who need it most

Entertain The People
I realized all kids, especially ones in the hospital, needed encouragement to keep going when times got tough, or when they needed to hear it most.

This began as a community idea (in LA), when many years ago, I suffered a spinal cord tumor & recovered in the hospital for 4 weeks. While here, I noticed many children were recovering (some from cancer, other ailments or diseases), had no family in their rooms. There were large chunks of time when these kids could use a good story to help them sleep, nap or get to bed at night. I felt aligned with what these kids were going through, since I went through it myself.

I made a note of it and said, “Once I’m better, I’m going to give back to help these kids”, and the idea took off from there. I give back for free to put entertaining, educational fairytales & more modern stories, that are LIVE-READ: doing all voices in the stories, & am joined by my side-kick mouse puppet Millicent, who asks questions kids would ask. This all takes place on my “Read To Me, Heidi” channel on YouTube.

So, these stories uplift and help all ages of kids to feel nourished and the ability to laugh through whatever they may be facing in their lives. It’s fun, yes, but it started to help children that were all alone (or felt alone), and needed some positive stories to lift them up. I wish to give them hope, and a way to laugh while supporting them, especially if their parents are both working.

This has now moved on to include ALL children of all ages, everywhere -it started at hospitals and is also helping regular kids that may be going through a hard time in school like being bullied, or feel like they don’t fit in. I feel happy and gain so much from giving back! I really feel for these children that have so much to face and these stories can help them to feel better about themselves and have a positive experience through a story, and have it educate them in that way. Well, me and Millicent will be there, encouraging folks, esp. Kids, one story at a time!
