I run gaming workshops at libraries across Long Island to help bring kids together and improve their critical thinking skills. I've seen shy kids come out of their shell to the other participants by having a shared love of video games, and see many of the same kids returning week after week not just because they enjoy playing games, but also because they have made friends through the programs. A lot of the younger kids that I work with were in prime formative years during the COVID lockdowns, and seeing them develop their teamwork skills that were lost in early elementary years is incredibly rewarding, and being able to have fun with the kids is an amazing experience.
