It all began for me in a college dorm room back in 2021, fueled by my own personal journey of overcoming limitations. Growing up, navigating school was a real struggle; I spent time learning English and in special education, and often, it felt like those experiences closed doors to my future opportunities.
When I reached college, the challenge shifted to forging a career path, especially once I set my sights on the tech industry. The fear of not securing a job after graduation, coupled with the daunting prospect of being a woman in a male-dominated field, pushed me to seek every possible opportunity. Breaking into tech without prior experience felt like hitting a wall, as so many industries demanded a high level of work experience that was incredibly difficult to acquire. The only way in was through relentless volunteering and building my own projects to showcase my skills.
This journey ignited a fierce determination in me: no one else should ever feel limited in their opportunities or alone in their pursuit of big dreams. As an Asian woman in tech, I understood firsthand the difficulty of self-advocacy. I wanted to build a space where everyone, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, could access unparalleled opportunities, feel a powerful sense of belonging, and have a clear stepping stone to excel.
