Madde Gnauck shares the importance of selling Townes Harvest Garden produce to MSU students

Grow For The People
My name is Madde Gnauck and I have been the manager at Towne’s Harvest Garden for three years now. Towne's Harvest Garden is a five-acre diversified vegetable and educational research farm supporting a student-run, community-supported agriculture program. Towne's Harvest Garden promotes learning about food production, the value of eating and supporting local foods, community building, and individual empowerment. My role at the farm is to oversee all aspects of production from seeding to sales, and to help manage the students that make this place run. I have always been concerned with making a positive impact on my local community and the environment, and I feel very fortunate to work in a position where I can accomplish both of those things. I am also very lucky to have amazing student staff who are passionate about the future of local and sustainable agriculture, and are doing amazing work here at the farm and in their education to further that. Increasing food supply while trying to be financially and environmentally sustainable is an increasing challenge that is going to impact all of us, and our research and education programs at Towne’s Harvest and MSU are working to directly address these challenges. By supporting us or local agriculture of any sort, people are making a wider impact on the community as a whole, and we are so grateful for the support that we receive.
