While reporting on a tragic story of an abandoned newborn in a dumpster, I was inspired to push for a state law that led me to become a mother

Advocate For The People
I remember the moment I was reporting on a story about an abandoned newborn found in a dumpster - which led me to my involvement in proactively pushing the Safe Haven Laws.

Thousands of babies have been saved by the Safe Haven Laws that have been that have been around more than 25 years. No baby should ever be abandoned in a bathroom or dumpster when the law allows a safe surrender at designated locations, "no questions asked." Awareness of the law that is in all 50 states is so important.

In support of this, I have spoken at women's conferences and civic groups. I've also written an Amazon Best-Selling Children's Book in 2016 that helps me raise money for advocating for the law. After I got the law passed, I adopted a baby who was surrendered under the law.
She is now 22.
