It's important to uplift young minds and educate children, but it's also important for kids to get all the resources they can, like food, shelter, and clothes. Many people see teachers as just teachers, but we are also therapists, social workers, and so much more. I connect with my families I work with to make sure they get all the resources they can for themselves and their kids. Having worked at a Title 1 school and now at an all-girls school for children with mental disabilities and trauma, I've seen firsthand how kids can live without these important resources. That is what it means to be a teacher.
